Older Series Land-Rovers come with a grill to put over a fire...
As long as you don’t mind a little zinc, road grime, and bugs.

Zinc? Isn’t that a rust inhibitor? Pretty sure those don’t have that, lol.
Besides, zind is like, a nutrient or something - good for you, so moar is better?

The legend, accurate or not, was that Aussies used them that way and were pissed off by the change to plastic on the Series III.
The earliest Series Is had the headlights behind the grill, which would have made the “barbie” active area the largest of any of them:
They were also available with a screen version to keep grass seed/etc. in plains areas from clogging the radiator.

The grills are soldered (?) steel strip and rod stock that’s been hot-dip galvanized. If you were to use one of these multiple times over a fire, it would be mostly burned off and you’d need to oil it after use.

As this is the single most Australian thing I’ve ever heard of in my life, I 100% believe it.
